Sucker for marketing

Jeju_island_jul_07_003_1Found this at E-Mart, Jeju Island.
It was selling for about USD3.5. I bought 7!
ok ok...truth be told. The coffee served at Lotte Hotel was crap!
Tasted more like coffee-flavoured water. There was a small cafe selling UCC coffee, some Japanese make, which tasted alot better than the Korean c-flavoured water. But THIS, tops it off. TOTALLY made my day, man! See how neat the packaging is? I had to resist going back for more! ha ha! Ok abit of my jakun-ism side showing now. Well, I know some might say it's just a cup of over-priced, over-commercialised latte. So what? It looks cool, content taste like yummy coffee, easy access with the cool straw at side of cup...what more can I say?
I'm such a sucker for marketing, aren't I?

Sxcker!!!!

8 days 6 nights affair on Jeju Island.

Yet another opportunity to visit Korea swung by recently. Apparently, the rainiest but a good time nonetheless to go. This time to paradise island of Jeju, off the coasts of South Korea, which is twice as big as Penang. Jeju Island is home to many locals and holiday-makers alike. There are many forest reserves, hills, parks, coastal beaches and volcanic remnants that shape this island beautifully. I was there on an assignment, which included 8-hr daily classroom style lectures on man-made theories and sterile trials, constant checking in on special guests aka corporate babysitting and some brain-squeezing on internal activities. Fortunately, I had exotic Korean dinners in between and irreplaceable colleagues to gossip with.

ASSignment aside, it was unmistakably a genuine experience for me. The toilets were unique (the device had squirts of all sorts), the air was fresh, the sights were breath-taking and Korean food was yummy! Even grocery shopping was fun! They have all the wierd stuff we obviously would never see in a local Malaysian supermarket. Like multicoloured sausages. NO kidding! However, I found Korean men a tad disappointing and have come to a conclusion that all hot Korean men can only be found in Korean dramas. Not anywhere else!

On this visit, I stayed at the famous Jeju Lotte Hotel. It's a pretty grand piece of development, something of a cross between Palace of the Golden Horses and Sunway Lagoon Resort back home. There are 3 main eating places and we can choose from any of the 3 to have breakfast at: Japanese, Korean, Western. Senthil and I were the food sluts, frolicking between Jap and Korean most of the time. We also had dinner at an authentic Korean house that paraded phalic structures as ornamental decor around the grounds of the restaurant-house. We had to sit on the floor and were served half the time and the other half, we had to work for our meals. We also ate BBQ horse meat which tasted just like beef. I only had 1 miniscule piece and Senthil had a whole plate! The dude started neighing after he was finished. Nnnneiiighhhh...!!!! He's crazy!

Getting to the island was quite a feat. It was a midnight-overnight flight on Korean Air/MAS from KLIA to Incheon International Airport in Seoul (6.5hrs). Something about Korean Govt forbidding foreign aircraft use of airspace in the day time, hence flying at nights. From Incheon Airport, we had to take a cab to the domestic Gimpo Airport (45mins), where we had to take another flight to Jeju Island Airport (1.3hrs). Then another 1 hr cab ride from Jeju Airport to Jeju Lotte Hotel. The hotel is located on the south side and the airport is on the north side of the island. Travelling there was a bit of a pain, if you ask me. However, upon arrival, all fatigue naturally disintegrated. The sights of vast pastures and hills on the way to the hotel was awesome. The sea was a gleaming sparkle of olive green and silver. The skies were scattered with tau-foo-far clouds. And the air was a fresh crisp dewy fragrance. Ecstatic!

I managed to steal some time aside from the assignments to explore abit of the hotel vicinity. Apparently, Jeju Island is a famous movie production destination and in fact, a few Korean drama series have already used some sites including the Lotte Hotel and helped put Jeju Island on the map. The hotel's beach was a browny-grainy patch. The sea looked rough but ironically there wasn't a draft at all, considering one would anticipate the wind, seeing the waves coming in so fiercely, apparently enough to have a surfing competition which was going on at the same time I was there. In view that public use of the beach was limited, I casually hung around to check them out, but was again disappointed with the Korean men in this cohort, albeit associated with surf boards.

On my final evening at Jeju, I eventually visited the Jeju Teddy Bear Museum and did abit of grocery shopping. Everything Korean was cute or nice or interesting. From chocolates to coffee to shower stuff to cereal and breakfast sandwich packs. They even had ready-to-drink Starbucks latte. Just pull out the straw, insert through and drink. Like those Vitagen/Yoghurt drinks we have. Now that was impressive. So I bought chocolates, green tea latte, korean chinese tea and some Xylitol chewing gum that came in a cute dispenser can. Michelle asked if I was gonna buy some ginseng home....I didn't....don't think I need any of it le.. he he..

Let me story more about the Teddy Bear Museum. It was kinda strange to think that someone actually built a museum for teddy bears. I know what's going through your mind. I was like you at first too. Teddy what?? What's with a teddy bear museum?? Who would in the right mind pay USD 7.00 to go to a teddy bear museum???? What's there anyways? There was enough kepoh curiousity in me to wanna go take a look, which eventually I did. Two colleagues and I stumbled around and surprisingly found it both enjoyable and educational. I'll tell you in greater detail in my next entry.

Generally, Jeju Island was a pretty good experience.

My Best Friend's Wedding

...was AWESOME!!!

May the force be with June!

Between May and June, many headliners this past couple o' months had influenced my daily schedules.

The most heart-wrenching news had come from my esteemed boss who announced her resignation end of May. She was on her glorious way "up" to becoming a Desperate Housewife and was already talking about hiring a gardener or plumber (Ahem! Not!). This is Malaysia la!! She had been such a pillar of strength to all of us at the business unit and always encouraging and motivating. Her champagne personality speaks much of who she is as a person, boss, mentor, and friend. She is bubbly, elegant, articulate and cares for us all. The somber atmosphere of June 29th blanketted her as she cleaned out her "fort" of 14 years.

Also, on that fateful rainy Friday, Dr Koh Eng Kiat, chairman founder and elder of Full Gospel Assembly, went to be with the Lord. To many of us who've known and loved him dearly, he is deeply missed. He leaves behind a bit of himself in all of us.

I was in Penang that day with a colleague for an event at the medical dept of Hospital Pulau Pinang. It was then that I lost my favourite Folie Folie stainless steel ring. A terrible person made a comment about it only two days before, and now it's gone. It's a sign! Ugh!....and these things, as they say, usually happen in 3's. Phew!

So the good news now. We celebrated Vy's birthday dinner at Bijou Cafe and drinks thereafter at Club 18 where ladies not only got in and drank for free, all Venus-kin also received a pair of lovely earrings as door gifts! Whoa! (yeah, sucker for freebies!). Superfrenz was performing so we danced the night away with all our favourite tunes. Thanks to Vy, I've never taken that many crazy photos IN A CLUB as I'd reckon we'd done that night. We must've pissed-off a few others who were at the tables around us. But who cares, right? Gives new meaning to "growing old" with friends, I'd say. It was a fantabulously awesome (week) night, no doubt! Dsc00072

Also in June, my best friend, Ann, got hitched. An ex-lab mate, Kim, gave birth to twins. Girls. Two dear friends in Perth, a school mate, Anusuya, and a childhood friend, Bernice, both gave birth to gorgeous baby boys. Another friend, Leo, announced he was getting married in Dec this year.

May the force be with June....

Seoul-ful Seafood

For some people like me, travelling for the first time to Seoul in April weather was exciting, yet frightening. Not only was I unable to read or write or speak or understand any Korean, I couldn't even tell 100 Won and 100, 000 Won notes apart (yeah, it's a HUGE difference apparently). They all look alike bah! The thought of venturing into a new country was ecstatic though. The best part however, was that I was there on work. So the major bitS of this travel was paid for...I mean, made for... us who were there for the weekend's meeting. Meeting? Who said meeting?
Fast Fwd>>...

ok..so where was I? Oh ya...I was with 3 others who were ready to get into the jiggy of Korean seafood as much as I was and the journey began with a 10-course lunch meal at a special crab restaurant. We had 10 different dishes of crab. All cooked, smoked, smacked, poached, boiled, grilled, burnt, souped, grilled - mentioned!-, raw-ed and fried. Amazing! I was really impressed. For dinner, we traversed ...ok not so terror la... ok ok..we took a CAB...to this Wholesale Fisheries market where rows and rows of fresh fish vendors decorate their livestock with christmas lights to attract tourists like us. I swear even the blind could see!Seoul_apr_07_0292

There were so many creepy crawlies in tonnes and tonnes of water tanks everywhere. We're talking about slimy Fear Factor type slitheries with 1 eye and 1000 spikey pokies swimming around with other 1 eyed-1000 spikey pokies in a basin-tank, waiting to be swept up, paid for and grilled. Eeps! My colleague, Wee Ling, could speak Mandarin, so she managed to chat up (more like bargain) with the fish-y lady, who is Korean BUT speaks Mandarin (amazing, right!?) and she helped us with our seafood buys. Chef recommendations were of course the blue crab, octopus, big mama oysters and the squid-worm. The squid-worm was eaten raw; even after slicing it up, its legs were still squiggling around....like the lizard's tail lapping around side to side reminiscent of when those naughty La Sallian boys stepped on the cicak's tail causing it to lose them... ugh. According to 1 CSI:NY tale, when not swallowed whole properly, these squids would apply their sucky tentacles around the walls of the esophagus, causing asphyxia, leading to loss of consciousness or death. Yikes! Well, I managed to eat 1 squid-worm's leg only. Grinded on it like crazy, I swear I grew jaw-ceps after that one. he he...

Shopping in Seoul was quite an experience as well. The uncanny similarity to shopping in Phuket, ie. experience in lots of walking around, peering into shops, attempting to show off bargaining skills, failing which then proceed to walking out and around again, had indeed brought clearer understanding of the Consensus Guidelines of Window Shopping. The difference is that in Seoul, it's underground shopping. Crazy right? Rows and rows of "underground lanes". It was rather strange. I enjoyed browsing around the underground grocery store and gave into getting some Korean cookies...but couldn't really buy anything else. Not unless you're keen to buy RM1000 seaweed bentos or Rm888 "Fresh" Fruit baskets, then start looking at the grocer's underneath Marriot Hotel, Seoul. No kidding! Wierd, right??

Overall rating for Seoul: 7.20
And oh, all the hot Korean men are only found in the Korean series. The rest of them were just...meh!
Pbbfftt!!

Kamsa-ha-nida!

Uncertainty

In the face of adversity, we oftimes leave space for doubts and fears,
In search of truth, self is lost and the alter ego sneers,
but when love glows at the end of the lens,
I know then who's got my heart with those mighty hands.

As I sit there staring into your frames,
Each hustle, each muscle,
Each thought, you fought, so strong.
When, Why, How and No, not now?,
Uncertainty is sung all over your embrace,
Even your brow each speak their phrase.

Will is a word of power; Can, of beauty, they say,
With great power comes great responsibility,
Think, feel, taste, hear, and watch me from up there, I pray,
You don't have to drum it crazy,
Just whisper that you love me quietly.
And I'll know,
And perhaps understand,
Why you had to go.

"March"-ing in Spain

It was March 16th. Ecstatic feelings rushed through the tips of my fingers as I thumbed through my passport pocket to make sure my flight ticket to Barcelona was intact. For a personal birthday treat, I only had one plan on my mind : Z-A-R-A!!
Tee hee!

After being trapped in Amsterdam Schiphol airport for close to 7hrs, my professor and I made it to Hilton, Barcelona unscathed. The weather was pleasant and the air, fresh! it wasn't as cold as I had imagined 15 degrees would be....Until dinner time of course-- we were freezing our Asian asses off *and* sleep-head-banging in the middle of the most important speech. Due to bad jet lag, it was simply impossible to stay awake, much less show any Malaysian hospitality to our international friends. I was SO grumpy!! A tired woman is synonymous to a hungry man. Ever heard that before? ok, if you haven't, well...I made that up, but it's true! I was about to bite off the next person's head off if he/she came round asking how we were doing "after the long flight"--for the 107th time! Grr!

ok I'm not that bad. Shopping in Barcelona's La Rambla was quite breathtaking. Reminded me of London's Bond St actually. There was a mini park in the middle of the town also. I felt like I was in Leicester Sq park for a split second, but I'm sure the Londoners would beg to differ--their's is better. Due to limited time, I marched straight over to the largest Zara boutique on La Rambla to find it "Closed For Renovations"!! ARGH!!!
My professor who had NO clue whatsoever as to WHO is a ZARA saw the building, turned to me and asked, " Is *this* Zara? I think it's closed."

DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everything that happened the rest of the trip is now irrelevant.
(Fast fwd to end of Barca trip): Finally bought 1 pair of Zara slippers AT THE AIRPORT duty free!!! hmph.

Ile Maurice!!

Travelling is one of my most treasured experiences. I don't know anyone who doesn't like or have no desire to travel. They'd be lying, if they said they didn't. Either that or they're bitterly broke but still secretly wishing. My recent trip to Mauritius has added a few double-cream-Oreo-brownie points to my list of island holidays. It's awesome!!!!! Initially planned as a diving trip with friends that was shelved following the Asian Tsunami, I didn't get to realise the plans until Lien announced that she was getting married in Mauritius. Well, of course, I RSVP-ed within the same second she proposed (for me to join her at her wedding!).

The flight to Mauritius on Air Mauritius/MAS was smooth. Gorgeous cabin crews with sun-kissed golden brown complexions livened the atmosphere in-flight. After 7 hours of cruise, I got really excited when I looked out my window. Anticipations heightened as we were made to circle the island a bit longer. Just watching the beautiful thick white cotton clouds above the island gave me goose-bumps! I swear even the clouds in Mauritius are different from the ones above home. The indian ocean had a striking aquamarine and light jade colour, white sandy patches and a silver glisten on the sea surface. I couldn't wait to get in!Mauritius_feb_07_0122 God-forbid me going loony, but I know I heard by dive gear in the airbus' cargo jumpin' for joy too! Mauritius airport is situated on the SE corner of the island and it is about 1 hr by taxi to the capital, Port Louis. All around the island are heavenly miles of coastal beaches, luxurious holiday villas, hotels and resorts. My friends and I chose to stay at Pereybere, a small beachfront area, a little NW of the island. We got a villa accommodation with 5 rooms, 3 toilets, 2 kitchens and a swimming pool. Big place. Eight friends from London who were on the trip agreed that a self-catering option was most ideal. After all, the pool was great for the kids (and I mean, the rest of my friends from London, who don't get to swim in tropical weather 9 months of their year!).

The culture in Mauritius is a good mix of French, Africans, Indians and Chinese ethnic groups. It's a bit like the mix at home but different. The traffic jams are Mauritius_feb_07_0692 the same though. Maybe even worse. Food is also familiar to the taste buds with curry dishes, dupree, which is essentially capati with dhall folded in like a wrap, a delicious fast food sold at quaint caravan stalls along the beach, and also Mauritian dishes that has abit of African influences - mainly use lots of chopped tomatoes and purees. Yummy! You also get the typical Western cuisine. There is only 1 McDonald's in the whole of Mauritius. Then again, why would u need more when the population is only estimated at 300, 000 people? Then again, why would anyone go all the way to Mauritius and eat McD's?

Shopping in Port Louis is ok. Shopping at the bazaars is fantastic! My mate Dushy bought a canvas art by a local artist for only Rps 5000 (GBP 75). The Mauritian currency is Rupees but unsurprisingly, some places quote in Euros too. The French influences left there during their occupation is still rife all around. The city's Port Louis harbour, waterfront hotels, Caudan peninsula and Mauritius_feb_07_0602_2 architectures are classic examples. It's amazing! There are even boat taxis that ferry people along the harbour front to get from the Caudan mall to the waterfront hotels or to office buildings. Many locals and tourists would spill into the exclusive Caudan complex, Mauritius' premier commercial and entertainment centre overlooking the thames for lunch or shopping or both. Pretty relaxing to have lunch by the steps of the waterfront actually. Whilst surrounded by the indian ocean, Mauritius is padded with endless vastlands of sugarcane plantations. Hence, their rich sugar economy. They have sugar for Mauritius_feb_07_2722 everything!! Thirteen types altogether produced by the Mauritius Sugar industry- demerara sugar, golden granulated raws, golden caster, fine caster and golden bakery sugars, light and dark muscovado, molasses sugar, special raw sugar and coffee crystals to name a few. I guess similar to us where we have rice and the different SKUs. I can't even remember all the rice names. Yikes! We celebrated Lien and Darren's wedding at Domain Anna, which is a very secluded resort restaurant surrounded by sugarcane plantation. On our way back late past midnight after the wedding dinner, driving through without "street" lamps had us huddled together in our van as Creepy Jeepers threatened to jump alive out of the sugarcane alleys, thanks to MacPang's vivid imagination. Kids!! Trinh almost dug her nails into my flesh from holding my arm too tightly. She wasn't called "chic"-ken for nothing!

Although I hadn't the chance to catch some dives this time as there were 2 cyclones lurking in the NE bay rendering it neither safe nor pretty underwater, at the end of my week there and travelling home alone on valentine's day, I was somewhat lackadaisical about not being able to spend the over-rated Feb 14th with loved ones. In fact, the fun-filled time sunbathing in Pereybere, bazaars and the sunset in Grand Baie, Mauritius_feb_07_0342 wedding party at Domain Anna, crazy dinner at Club Med, Port Louis walkathon (I didn't tell u about this, eh?) and swimming in the Indian Ocean was exhilaratingly refreshing. Knitting new friendships (salute! to Dushy, Rachel, Sarah, Nghi, Kevin and Long) and catching up with old friends (Trinh, Hang, Lien and Darren, Binh and Quan) and the new babies (Cayla and Megan) are cherished moments. Getting a glittering golden brown tan with Mauritius written all over it is priceless!....

...well err.. no, actually it costed exactly Rps 45, 236.98. *Eeps!*

Dec 25th, 2006

This christmas felt different.

It's not because I'm in a different age group (ahem!--yeah, "late" 20s IS an age group, okay!),
or that the weather is hot up here and wet down there,
or that we're halfway to having snow in our backyard!
hypothetically, maybe, possibly-ish....it's because... I got NO PRESENTS!!!!!!!!!
Hmph!

ok I lied, I got:
1) a Cerutti 1881 pen from Gladwraps, a J.A.-lookalike who was my secret santa at a party
2) a CD with grand MP3 compilation from a gothic chic, whose real name we *think* is Ah Peng
3) a candle and holder with red santas from Jo Jo
4) a Bvlgari rouge perfume from a fleeting MAS pilot
5) an Evita peroni croc hairclip
6) Crabtree and Evelyn goodies
7) a 375ml bottle of Chilean 2003 Malbec from Miss HSBC
8) a Lavendar massage balm from beloved mum
9) Ann Da Man's homemade orange marmalade and cookies
10) a Le Chic pouch and personalized Le Chic keychain (only Anna la!)
11) Dear Cousin's mother of shell ring and
12) Flower Power necklace from Shanghai El.

A big hug to my specials ones who contributed to all the above.
*Dreamy*

In reality:
Argh!
I know why it's different!!!
I've put on 3kilos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*faint*

Happy Boxing Day 2006!

I learnt only yesterday what Boxing Day meant. It's actually the day when we open up all our boxes of presents...hence "Box"-ing Day. Seriously thought Boxing Day was the day when you BOX all the fats away after having eaten a whole Christmas feast or 10!

Pfbt!!

Inside Out

Stretching over a timeless frame,

Luscious lips turn blue, so cold

My skin pierced by her thorns

Tired lungs screaming out through ebony windows which read "Sold".

Despair.

I say, No!

But blood is everywhere.

Who would think?

I wait for him to liberate me.

it's been 60, 480 hours.

Then this pain will go away.

Or will it?

Is it a crime to think up a bundle of many,

or is it a sin to be inside one a plenty?

I just prefer to be someone's.

Someone's wild imagination

From the inside out.

Me, Myself, My Song

She's electric
She's in a family full of eccentrics
She done things I never expected
And I need more time
She's got a sister
And god only knows how I've missed her
On the palm of her hand is a blister
And I need more time

And I want you to know
I've got my mind made up now
But I need more time
And I want you to say
Do you know what I'm saying?
But I need more ....
Coz I'll be you and you'll be me
There's lots and lots for us to see
There's lots and lots for us to do
She is electric, can I be electric too?

She's got a brother
We don't get on with one another
But I quite fancy her mother
And I think that she likes me
She's got a cousin
In fact she's got 'bout a dozen
She's got one in the oven
But it's nothing to do with me

And I want you to know
I've got my mind made up now
But I need more time
And I want you to say
Do you know what I'm saying?
But I need more ....
Coz I'll be you and you'll be me
There's lots and lots for us to see
There's lots and lots for us to do
She is electric, can I be electric too?

V

Remember, remember the 5th of November.
The gunpowder treason and plot.
I know of no reason why gunpowder treason should ever be forgot.

A symbol is just that, a symbol.
A building is just that, a building.
Men do not last an eternity.
Monuments do not last till the end of time.
Only ideas do.

-V for Vendetta.

Nomadic rhythms

So many questions, so little answers,
A fair moment rendered to appreciate the rovers,
Who wait willingly, who wander heights aplenty,
And yet whose souls are prescribed cheaply.
But then, kind begets love, and love begets honour,
Gentle lips, acidulous yet tender
Smooth hands, powerful sinews,
Thrown around his warmth, like fresh rye,
Sinking in the final hours so few,
The truth cometh nigh.

So many questions, so little answers,
Lie behind those thirsty eyes,
Making no sense amidst bright flickers.
The melody, nonetheless, written to sing your story,
Insomuch doth anyone who seeks to mock or imitate,
Will be turned into stones, fitted on clocks with evil glee,
And vengeance that follows will never run late.

Death by Bird

It's impossible to decipher one's thoughts when it comes and goes.
Just another day, another channel, in another space and time.
no big deal.. at times.
spinning, not fine.
quick and quiet.
reeks of euthanasia.

all wired.
slowly, but un-surely. how ironic.
staying focus on what lies beneath and a-head. how sick.
we go in to kill bill.

(my Big Bird soft toy was beheaded as part of the H5N1 precautionary measures. But i later found out that the authorities don't consider Big Bird a chicken and birds with bird flu are not be-headed anyways.)

Koyak!

Time for everything when life exists

Time goes by so slowly, they say, when we're not enjoying ourselves.
But does it? I doubt the hands on the clock decidedly took the couch potato option that day.
Or that the Sun forgot to set her alarm clock the night before.
But the reverse is said to be true when we're spending time with someone we cherish.
Passionate, radiant, can't-stop-smiling, dancing with gay best friends, and screaming-from-atop-the-Eiffel-tower kind of time!
It's almost tangible. Have it, give it. Share it, live it!

We never expect things to turn out the way it does. One minute your's, one minute mine. Before you know it, the day's gone. You're gone. There's a time for love, to love, and be loved. To share secrets. To carry each others' school bags. To talk about photography and tennis, about milo moments with mum and dad, about not having enough money, or having too much to eat. There's also a time to say I'm sorry, please forgive me. Let's not get angry, it only makes your face look like papaya. And definitely always a time to say thank you. For 1001 things. 1001 times.

May you forever find peace. Now I understand why you often save a breathe to remind us that there's always a time for everything when life exists.

The Tongue

TongueThe tongue is the large bundle of muscles on the floor of the mouth that manipulates food for chewing and swallowing. It is one of the organs of taste. Much of the surface of the tongue is covered in taste buds. The tongue assists in forming the sounds of speech.

The word tongue can be used as a synonym for language, e.g., as in the phrase mother tongue.

It is also examined and observed diagnostically in traditional Chinese medicine.

The tongue is made mainly of skeletal muscle and attached to the hyoid bone, mandible and the styloid processes of the temporal bone.

The muscles that attach the tongue are the extrinsic muscles of the tongue. Inside the tongue, there are four pairs of intrinsic muscles that can alter the shape of the tongue for talking and swallowing. Since it contains no supporting skeletal structures for the muscles, the tongue is an example of a muscular hydrostat, like an octopus arm.

The dorsum (top side) of the tongue can be divided into two parts, a pharyngeal part (posterior third of the tongue), which faces backward to the oropharynx, and an oral part (anterior two-thirds of the tongue) that lies mostly in the mouth. The two parts are separated by a V-shaped groove, which marks the sulcus terminalis (or terminal sulcus).

The oral part of the tongue is covered with small bumpy projections called papillae. There are four types of papillae: filiform (thread-shape), fungiform (mushroom-shape), foliate (leaf-shape), and vallate (ringed-circle). All papillae except the filiform have taste buds on their surface. The vallate are the largest of the papillae. There are 8 to 14 vallate papillae arranged in a V-shape in front of the sulcus terminalis, creating a border between the oral and pharyngeal parts of the tongue.

There are no lingual papillae on the underside of the tongue. It is covered with a smooth mucous membrane, with a fold (the lingual frenulum) in the center.

The upper side of the posterior tongue (pharyngeal part) has no visible taste buds, but it is bumpy because of the lymphatic nodules lying underneath. These follicles are known as the lingual tonsil.

Things related to the tongue are often called lingual, which comes from the Latin word, or glossal, which comes from the Greek word for tongue.

The tongue is the strongest muscle in the human body proportional to size.

Day In Day Out Zit

Every 5th-of-the-month morning I wake up and look into my Ikea mirror and I see that same old zit on the base of my cheek (FACE cheeks, not gluteus maximus cheeks! what were u thinking!!). I'm like what the..? Not again? That same old spot, month after month, prying its way out often to fail with the suppressive combats of my favourite zit buster (I'm not gonna tell u what brand it is!!!). Silly old Zit, thinks it can get away with flares this time. No way man!! *wag finger*

To squeeze or not to squeeze. I can't squeeze it out-- I'll get scars. I can't NOT squeeze it out-- I'll get stares. so the question is why fight nature? Let it come out naturally. We are who we are! Are you kidding? Drop it like it's hot! Let all thine human pus out and play. Stop pretending!!

Ile Maurice Feb 2007!!

The cultures in Mauritius is a good mix of French, Africans, Indians and Chinese ethnic groups.

They have sugar for Mauritius_feb_07_2722 everything. 13 types altogether produced by the Mauritius Sugar industry- demerara sugar, golden granulated raws, golden caster, fine caster and golden bakery sugars, light and dark muscovado, molasses sugar, special raw sugar and coffee crystals to name a few.

*Eeps!*
